The purpose of the project was to undertake the flood recovery works at McCords Hospital, due to the April 2022 floods that had occurred in KZN.

The brief scope of the project included as follows:

• Removal of existing waterproofing on the roof.
• Re-screed roof
• Install new waterproofing on the roof, including upstairs and down stands.
• Replace damaged ceilings where necessary.
• Allow for paint on walls and soffits.

Ukuza Consulting (Pty) Ltd was appointed as the Turnkey Contractor for the project on the 17th of July 2023. A professional team of consultants were then appointed under the Main Contractor, to facilitate the design and construction of the project. During the construction phase, the design team was actively involved in carrying out routine inspections to ensure that the quality of material and workmanship are not compromised.
